Dominic Macharia is the last born in a family of four.  All his siblings are grown ups and some are already on their own now.

Dominic parents’ are poor hence the main reason why he is on the dump site. The dump site is secluded area where all the town waste is dumped. Dominic spends most of his time there. We were shocked to find out that he always here with both his parents. At the dump site they search for metal and plastic materials which are later sold to be recycled. This behavior was so common with him to the extent the chief of the area was aware. We bumped into him and shared with him what the Lord was doing in the lives of boys like him in SOH, he so happy about it and he joined the big SOH family.   Dominic is always jovial and working hard in school.




NAME: - DENNIS KIPRONO (Sponsor Needed)
AGE: - 9 YEARS
BASE: - MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:
Dennis hails from Mau- Narok, he was brought to us by his father after their home was burnt down in the post election violence. He vividly recalls how all their livestock were stolen and crops destroyed. Dennis’ parents are not separated but cannot provide for their children. Dennis siblings are: - Immanuel Kiprotich, Tito Kipgetich, and Maurine Chebet.

His father’s name is David and his mother’s name is Caroline. Dennis can only remember their first names only.
By Gods grace Dennis is in our Mwariki Home. Apparently after a short while Streets of Hope also took his brother in our care. Dennis is grateful to be his brother at Mwariki Home. He is looking forward to study hard and later assist his community. 



NAME: - DAVID NJUGUNA (Sponsor Needed)
AGE: - 10 YEARS
BASE: - MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:

David has no whereabouts of his father. He has been raised by his grandmother. His mother is alive but spends most of time collecting plastics materials and metal for sale. When she realized the conditions of the dump site she deem it fit to ask her own mother help him with his son. David has only known his grandmother as his breadwinner. He remembers that at some point he stopped going to school since his grandmother would not be able to provide all the necessary items needed in school.
When they heard that S.O.H was enrolling children with needs they brought to Nakuru where our team met with him. He was enrolled and is now at Mwariki Home. He is looking forward to going back to school.



NAME:  ALEX OMYIN (Sponsor Needed)
AGE:      14 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


Alex was born in Bungoma District, i.e. In Western part of Kenya.  His parents later moved to Nakuru town.  They settled in London area Gioto location.
Alex has three other brothers, one he remembers his first name only actually his nick name is “Boi.” The other one Valentino Ochimba and William Mpapai. William Mpapai and Boi currently are staying in Bungoma with Alex’s grandmother.  Alex and his brother Valentino Ochimba are in Nakuru town staying with their father.
Alex is aware that of the separation of his parents.  This is the reason why he lacked food at home and left to the dump site to look for food.  It is in one of these times we met with him, shared about SOH and he willingly agreed to go with us home and stay at street of Hope Mwariki.
Alex is determined to study here and change the course of his life.



NAME:  VICTOR WAMBOGA (Sponsor Pastor Oscar Stewart and Living Sacrifice for Christ Min)
AGE:      14 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


Victor is 14 years old; he comes from Nakuru and has been raised in Gioto slums.  His dad was killed by an angry mob when he was caught stealing.
Victor started fetching for his family.  He went to buy pigs food and sell, soon after Victor’s mum bought their own pigs but later they were to be stolen and sold.
Victor has to do odd jobs to survive with his family since them.
He was identified by the local authorities as one boy who would benefit from this sponsorship.  He joined us since day one.  He is working hard in school to better his life.



NAME:  HILLARY ODUOR (Sponsor Needed)
AGE:      14 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


Hillary Odour comes from London estate in Nakuru town.  He remembers vividly after the death of both his parents, life took a different turn.  He was taken up by his aunt who lived in London also.
In School Hillary’s teachers noticed that his performance was very low.  They asked for the guardian to come.  His aunt came but she would later decide Hilary would not go to school but instead stay at home and help her with work.
The teacher in charge surprisingly did not insist this more.  Instead she kept quite concerning the whole issue.
Soon Hillary was staying home and doing all chores that would be handed to him by his aunt.  Later he decided to run away due to abuse by the aunt.  He joined a gang in Gioto area where he spent most of his day. 



NAME: - MASESE RAPHEAL  (Sponsor Bishop Jerry F. Hutchins and First Lady Sheila F. Hutchins)

CHILD PROFILE
:

Masese is the first born in his family of five. His mother dies while giving birth to their last child. They have been living with their father who again lost his job three months after the death of his wife.
Masese comes from the same area Mwariki Home is built. He was brought to us by the community leaders of Mwariki area. Masese is a humble boy though he struggles with chest problems and his eyes hurt a lot. He is always under medication because of both.
He is grateful to be at S.O.H Mwariki and looking forward to join school next year.



NAME:  STEPHEN MWANGI  (Sponsored by Pastor Derek Mayweather and Calvary Baptist Church)
AGE:      7 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


Stephen Mwangi is the last born in a family of four.  He says both his parents are alive.  Stephen was also going to school to Kagoto Primary School.
He recalls how his parents lacked to provide enough for the family hence making him miss school at times. He would instead spend most of his time in the dumpsite.
His mother heard what SOH was doing and brought him to us for support.
We enrolled him at Mwariki Home.  He is happy and determined to be back to school.



NAME: - KEVIN NGUGI (Sponsor Needed)
AGE:-8 YEARS.

CHILD PROFILE:-


Kevin hails from a family of four. When asked why he was at the dumpsite he answers with tears in his eyes, unlike other boys he told us his father is very harsh, he drinks a lot and comes home fighting everyone. His mother brews illicit drink and many occasions his mother, brothers and him have had to sleep outside since his father would not allow them in.
Kevin does not attend school since no one really cares whether requirements needed are supplied, he says the school uniform he had was donated by classmates. After such frustrations Kevin who is barely 10 years decided to make the dumpsite his home. He says he found comfort from other boys like him at the dumpsite.
Kevin is now in school and working hard for a better future.

CHILD PROFILE:


Joseph is the younger brother of stephen Gecheru. He has grown up looking up to his brohter Gacheru more than his mom since the was never there for them. His mother was an irresponsible parent  never knowing where they sleep or  what they have eaten.
To this date one can tell how Joseph loves his dear brother who has been everything for him. When our team arrived in the dump area we met with Joseph and his brother who we were informed that are in dire need of aid since no one was taking care of them. The residents told us the two lads spends most of time in the dump area looking for metal and plastic for sale.
Praise God now he is at S.O.H Mwariki where he is happy with brother and ready for school next year.



NAME: - IMMANUEL KIPROTICH (Sponsored by Wendy Fundulburks of Kingom Now Ministries)

CHILD PROFILE:


Immanuel is Dennis brother; he also comes from Mau Narok. He is the second brother in his family. After the organization realized his brother had a challenge leading his life due to the economic state of his parents, it was deemed fit to bring to Mwariki Home.
His father name is David and his mother name is Caroline. His siblings are; - Dennis Kiprono, Tito Kimgetich, Maurine Chebet.
Immanuel is steady are and willing to work hard to be responsible citizen when he grows up.



NAME:  DAVID MUNGAI (Sponsor Needed)
AGE:      12 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


David is last born in his family of six.  He loves his family dearly.  His father is jobless and spends most of his time with David in the dumpsite looking for metal and plastic materials for sale. By the time we were learning about David his mother very sick at home. The rest of his sisters and brothers live around and do lead the same kind of life.
When asked whether he has been to school, David told it has been a year and few months since he last stepped in school. David could not hold back his joy  when we told he will have an opportunity to go back to school. He loves to be part of SOH family and eagerly looks forward to seeing other boys from Gioto being assisted like him.
David is working hard and looks to be in school.



NAME:  COLLINS KIBET (Sponsor Bishop Jerry Hutchins and Kingdom Now Ministries)
AGE:      16 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


Collins was born and raised in Nakuru town in London Estate, Giotto area.  He knows no whereabouts of his father.  All he knows is his mum, who used to cook and sell local brew for a living.
At 12 years his mother chased him away like an animal.  Kibet took refuge to the dumpsite to make a living. He says sadly that he used to sleep in the open without anything to cover himself.
He sought all kinds of jobs to no avail. He ate, slept with dirty pigs on the slum area.
By the time our team made to the area we were informed by Chief if there is one boy who needed our help it was Collins. Indeed Collins was more than willing join other boys like him in S.O.H. The fact that he would have an opportunity to go school was like a miracle for him.
Collins is now in school and he is determined to work hard and change the course of the other boys in his community.



NAME:  KELVIN KIPKOECH (Sponsored by Nicole Rankin of Kingdom Now Ministries)

CHILD PROFILE:


Kelvin Kipkoech hails from Nakuru.  He comes from a family of five; his parents are alive and live in the Gioto dump site area.  Kelvin was also going to school at Milimani Primary School but since his father was jobless he would often remain at home with his siblings.
At home he would join other boys at the damp site, where they would collect metal for sale.  His father at times would get employment at a factory as a casual laborer.
Kelvin’s mother heard Streets of Hope was taking needy boys in the areas and she brought little Kelvin to be enrolled Praise God.  He got enrolled and is now at Mwariki home.  He is looking forward to going to school.



NAME:  ROBERT NJOROGE (Sponsor Pastor Tracy Boles and Timothy Baptist Church)
AGE:      10 YEARS
BASE:    MWARIKI

CHILD PROFILE:


Robert does not know where he was born.  He has no idea who is his father is.  He only had a chance of living with his mom who later passed on when he was 9 years old.
Since then he has been brought up by his grandmother. The grandmother is very old, when we met we wondering how she was able to provide for little Robert. We were informed if it were not for good will of the community Robert was not going to make it.  
Robert was brought to us in our main centre by a member of the community at the beginning of this year.  We took the details of Robert who later joined Mwariki home when we opened.
Robert is determined to study and work hard for a better tomorrow.
