"LITTLE BY LITTLE"

Scriptures: Exodus 23:30

If you were to walk into my home office you would see stacks of books on the floor, stacks of paper work and documents in different piles around the room. Even though I have all of those stacks of books and documents, my desk will normally have one project on it at a time. If I stacked everything on my desk I would be intimidated by the number of things that I have to do. The mere presence of all those things on my desk would cause me to feel that I need to do them all NOW.  It's the old saying, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."

Most of us have big goals. Frustration comes when we try to work on those goals all at once.  We stack things on our desk; pursue them with every ounce of effort only to end up stressed and frustrated. Rather than losing 50 pounds in 5 months, lose 2.5 pounds per week and you would have lost 4 extra pounds by the end of the 5 months.

God gave Israel a big goal of possessing the land of Canaan. He does not promise that they will accomplish the task all at one time, but He says "little by little, I will drive them out before you."  Charles Spurgeon said that "through perseverance, the snail entered the ark." Handle life little by little, for "life by the inch is a cinch, but life by the yard is hard".
